Basilica Final Resting Place for Puskás Ferenc

On 9 December, Ferenc Puskás, who died Friday morning, is to be laid to
rest in the urn repository in the crypt of Saint Stephen's Basilica.
Several television stations will broadcast the one-time legend's funeral.
"On
Saturday, 9 December, Ferenc Puskás, who passed away Friday morning, will
be laid to eternal rest in Saint Stephen's Basilica," György Szöllősi, the
family's spokesperson, informed the Hungarian News Service. We expect to
have a Roman Catholic burial mass in the afternoon and early evening hours.
Before that, everyone can pay their respects at the catafalque of the
Golden Team captain in Ferenc Puskás Stadium."
Following this, the legendary player's earthly remains will be committed
to the urn repository in the crypt of Saint Stephen's Basilica. Pál
Schmitt, Leader of the Ferenc Puskás Tribute Committee, has called upon
film director Gábor Koltay to serve as artistic director for the whole-day
event. Koltay had a personal relationship with the world-class player and
even made a documentary about his homecoming.
Csaba Schulek, leader of the sports division of Hungarian Television, has
been called upon to televise the event. Supposedly, not only the Hungarian
Television channel, but Duna TV and the M2 station will also broadcast the
ceremony live, in the interests of viewers outside the Hungarian border.
