On 9 December, Ferenc Puskás, who died Friday morning, is to be laid to rest in the urn repository in the crypt of Saint Stephen's Basilica. Several television stations will broadcast the one-time legend's funeral.

"On Saturday, 9 December, Ferenc Puskás, who passed away Friday morning, will be laid to eternal rest in Saint Stephen's Basilica," György Szöllősi, the family's spokesperson, informed the Hungarian News Service. We expect to have a Roman Catholic burial mass in the afternoon and early evening hours. Before that, everyone can pay their respects at the catafalque of the Golden Team captain in Ferenc Puskás Stadium."

Following this, the legendary player's earthly remains will be committed to the urn repository in the crypt of Saint Stephen's Basilica. Pál Schmitt, Leader of the Ferenc Puskás Tribute Committee, has called upon film director Gábor Koltay to serve as artistic director for the whole-day event. Koltay had a personal relationship with the world-class player and even made a documentary about his homecoming.

Csaba Schulek, leader of the sports division of Hungarian Television, has been called upon to televise the event. Supposedly, not only the Hungarian Television channel, but Duna TV and the M2 station will also broadcast the ceremony live, in the interests of viewers outside the Hungarian border.
